Kraken has always operated as a close-knit team, something Brent values deeply. “Because we’re a smaller company, everyone interacts with one another,” he says. “There are no islands. Everyone is focused on the same goal — meeting customer requirements.” This collaborative approach is at the core of Kraken’s reliability. Challenges are met together. Decisions are made with input from across the team. And the results are evident in equipment that consistently performs to the highest standards.

One of the most exciting aspects of working in custom automation, Brent notes, is the constant variety in projects. “There’s always something new around the corner,” he explains. “It might be a completely new machine that doesn’t currently exist, a combination of technologies we’ve used before, or even a small but critical modification to meet new consumer demands.” That continuous evolution keeps Kraken’s team — and Brent himself — energized. It’s a field that demands creativity without sacrificing precision, where innovation and execution must go hand in hand.
Brent describes himself as a conscious leader — someone driven to balance what he calls the triangle: the people, the company, and the stakeholders. His leadership style is shaped by early career experiences at Reyco Industries and later Tuthill Corporation, where he gained extensive training in Lean Manufacturing, Radical Leadership, and Conscious Company principles. He brings that same approach to Kraken today, guiding teams with clarity and empathy while maintaining a sharp focus on operational excellence. For Brent, leadership is about creating an environment where team members feel empowered to innovate, execute with precision, and support one another — all while keeping the customer at the center of every decision.
With Kraken now part of Excelis, Brent sees new opportunities for growth and alignment across the family of brands. “I’m excited about the investment being made to grow both the Excelis and Kraken brands,” he says. “The investment isn’t just in infrastructure — it’s in people. And that’s what drives real progress.” Under his leadership, Kraken continues to stand for what it always has: reliable performance, precise engineering, and a spirit of innovation that keeps customers moving forward.
